SOCCER: Simba, Azam FC sign Ugandans

Striker Amis Tambwe faces bleak future at the Msimbazi Reds.

Dar es Salaam. Mainland giants Simba are set to make a decision concerning Ugandan Simon Sserenkuma who has been at the club for trials in the past few days.

Sserenkuma was invited for trials at the club and played in Simba’s Nani Mtani Jembe match against their arch rivals Young Africans at the National Stadium on Saturday in which he impressed as Simba beat Marcio Maximo’s boys 2-0.

Reliable sources say Simba are impressed with the player’s quality and may sign the player who is currently a free agent.

The sources also revealed that in case the Msimbazi Street club signs Sseremkuma then striker Amissi Tambwe will be dropped to create room for the Ugandan ace.

Should he sign for Simba, he will partner with two other Ugandans Dan Sserenkuma and Emmanuel Okwi in Simba’s attack.

Meanwhile, Tanzanian side Azam FC head coach John Omog has confirmed that the Mainland champions have signed Uganda Cranes and KCC FC attacking midfielder Brian Majwega. Speaking to reporters yesterday, Omog said they were set to travel with Majwega back to Tanzania after their Uganda stay.

“Almost everything is done and if all goes well, we’ll travel with him to Tanzania,” Omog said yesterday. “He is a player we have followed for some time and we hope he will add quality to our attack,” he added.
